Your First Class

You have no idea how good you are about to feel!

Your First Hot Yoga Class at Hot Yoga Newberry
We’re so excited to have you join us! Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or trying hot yoga for the first time, we’re here for you.

What to Expect:
Our studio is heated to 95-105°F depending on the class. The heat will aid in deepening your stretches, improving flexibility, increasing the cardiovascular benefits, and detoxification.. Classes are designed to accommodate all levels, so don’t worry if you’re new—just go at your own pace and listen to your body.

What to Bring:

A yoga mat and towel are required for practicing most of our hot classes. We do not provide yoga mats for daily use. Please bring your own mat, or purchase one from us. Towels can be rented ($2) or purchased from us.  Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, or purchase water from us.

Wear lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing for maximum comfort. Changing areas are provided. If you’re joining us for a Hot Fit class, we provide booty bands and light weights, but feel free to bring your own.

Preparation Tips:
Arrive 15 minutes early to check in, settle into the space, and meet your instructor. Avoid eating a heavy meal two hours before class, but ensure you’re hydrated and properly nourished before the class.

During Class:
Go slow and take breaks as needed.  Breathe more and try less if you feel overwhelmed at any time. It’s normal to feel challenged, especially if you’re new to hot yoga, but the benefits are worth it.

After Class:
Cool down, rehydrate, and take pride in completing your first hot yoga session.

We can’t wait to see you on the mat! Reach out if you have any questions or need assistance before your first class.

I’ve never done hot yoga before. How do I prepare?

  • Bring a yoga mat and a towel, although we do rent these items.
  • Come to class well nourished, but not necessarily right after a huge meal either.

What can I expect in my first class?
  • Expect to feel freedom from aches and pains, and a profound sense of peace and calm… AFTER CLASS!
  • During the class, you will sweat like you’ve maybe never sweat before. Expect to work hard—in a way that is safe and gentle and deeply healing.
I’m not flexible and not into yoga. Can I participate?
  • It’s never too late to start from scratch, regardless of your age and health. This yoga is accessible to all.
  • The movements are safe and we do the same exercises in every class, so you will quickly make progress and benefit from the class.
